Does StillTabs feel like the real Instagram app?
Yes, as close as an app can get without Reels: StillTabs draws Instagram's bottom toolbar natively in Instagram's style, keeps Home, Search, messages and your profile loaded so switching tabs is instant, and uses edge swipes instead of buttons floating over the page. You sign in on Instagram's own page, and your feed, stories and DMs look the way they do in the app, minus Reels, Explore and suggested posts.
What makes it feel like the app
- A native toolbar. Instagram's mobile website has its own bottom bar; StillTabs draws its own in Instagram's app style instead, so it sits and responds like the real thing.
- Every tab stays loaded. Home, Search, messages and your profile each run in their own view in the background. Switching between them is instant, with no page reload, and a tab that has gone stale refreshes quietly when you come back.
- Full-screen feed. The feed runs to the top of the screen and scrolls under the top bar, as it does in the app.
- Stories, full-screen. Stories play in Instagram's own player on a full-screen stage.
- Platforms stay where you left them. Switch from Instagram to YouTube and back, and you return to the same place.
- The icon on your Home Screen. An icon named Instagram opens it straight inside StillTabs. How to add it.
Gestures, not floating buttons
Nothing floats over the content. Swipe in from the lower-left edge to go back to the StillTabs launcher from anywhere, or pull right from the left edge to go back a page. Each gesture has a point you can feel with a light haptic, and you can change your mind before letting go.
Some other Reels blockers put a floating button over the page to get back to their home screen; SocialLite does, from our own use of it in November 2026. It works, but it covers part of every screen and reminds you you're in a wrapper.
