Can iPhone Screen Time block Reels or Shorts?
No. iPhone Screen Time can limit or block whole apps, but it can't remove Reels from inside Instagram or Shorts from inside YouTube. A Screen Time limit on Instagram also locks your messages. StillTabs removes just Reels and Shorts and keeps the rest, for free.
What Screen Time does
Screen Time works on whole apps and categories. On iOS 26 that means Downtime and App Limits; iOS 27 replaces them with Screen Time Schedules and Time Allowances. Either way, the smallest thing it can limit is an app (or, in Safari, a whole website). It can't see inside Instagram to tell Reels from your messages, so limiting Instagram limits all of it.
Limits can also be ignored with a tap unless you set a Screen Time passcode and turn on blocking, which is why many people find them easy to wave away.

Using them together
They work well side by side. Set a Screen Time limit on the native Instagram and YouTube apps if you like, and use StillTabs when you need those platforms for something specific. StillTabs doesn't use Screen Time, so your limits stay as you set them.
StillTabs is free on the App Store, for iPhone. No subscription, no in-app purchases, no account. iOS 16 or later.
