What to check before you subscribe
From Dull's own terms, privacy policy, website and App Store listing, checked on 4 November 2026:
- It's a paid app. Its terms: "dull is a paid app. it includes a 7-day free trial, after which a subscription (dull pro) is required." Its own comparison page calls this "a 7-day free trial with full access, then a hard paywall".
- Starting the trial gives up an EU right. "By starting your free trial … you expressly acknowledge that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal".
- Refund requests. Its privacy policy says that when you ask Apple for a refund, its payment provider answers Apple with "our preferred outcome, which depends on whether you have ever opened a platform browser in dull".
- Meta and Mixpanel. After you allow tracking, the app sends events to Meta and forwards subscription events to Meta's Conversions API. Mixpanel receives "the pain points you selected" and your screen-time hours, kept up to 14 months. The App Store label lists "Third-Party Advertising".
- The homepage line. Dull's homepage says free apps "are free because they sell your data, run ads, or stop being maintained". StillTabs is free, sells nothing, runs no ads, and has had 46 updates to its filters since March 2026.
- "Lifetime" means the app's lifetime, not yours, and its terms cap its liability at $100 while capping what you owe them at "USD 500 or three times the amount you have paid".
- Ratings. 3.6 stars from 59 ratings; 13 of the 59 are 1 star.
Why choose StillTabs over Dull
It's free, and it doesn't track you. Dull's full feature set is sold through monthly, yearly and lifetime plans; StillTabs has no in-app purchases. Dull's App Store label lists data used to track you; StillTabs' label has nothing in that category, and its analytics are off unless you turn them on.
StillTabs also gives you a launcher whose tiles grow with your screen time, so you see where your time goes without being nagged by a limit, and four modes from Off to Blackout.
StillTabs is free on the App Store, for iPhone. No subscription, no in-app purchases, no account. iOS 16 or later.
