Is SocialLite free? What you get without Pro
SocialLite is free to download, and the free tier removes Reels, Shorts and Explore, but you can't change its blocking settings without a paid Pro or Family plan. SocialLite's terms list Pro at $6.99 a month. The US App Store lists ten in-app purchases from $3.99 to $47.90. If you want every setting free, StillTabs, FeedOff and Nope have no in-app purchases at all.
What the free version of SocialLite includes
SocialLite's terms of service (last updated 18 February 2026) describe three tiers:
- Free: "Access to all 7 supported platforms with default content blocking. Content blocking settings are not customizable."
- Pro, $6.99 a month: "Full customization of content blocking settings and additional features."
- Family, $13.99 a month: "Everything in Pro, plus parental controls for managing child accounts."
Reels, Shorts and Explore are blocked on every plan, including Free. The terms call these "core locks" that can't be turned off on any plan. So the free version does the main job. What you pay for is control: Pro lets you switch individual blocks on or off. The FAQ also says that "SocialLite subscribers" can add up to 10 Instagram accounts.
The terms list seven platforms: Instagram, YouTube, X, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn and Snapchat. The App Store update notes for version 3.1.0 add Reddit. SocialLite's iPhone FAQ says TikTok, Snapchat, LinkedIn, X and Facebook are still in beta.
Every SocialLite in-app purchase on the US App Store
The US App Store page lists these in-app purchases, in this order:
- SocialLite Pro Yearly: $19.99
- SocialLite Pro Monthly: $9.99
- SocialLite Pro Yearly: $47.90
- SocialLite Pro Yearly: $29.99
- SocialLite Pro Yearly: $47.90
- SocialLite Pro Monthly: $6.99
- SocialLite Pro Yearly: $47.90
- Sociallite Pro: $3.99
- SocialLite Family Monthly: $12.99
- SocialLite Pro Monthly: $17.99
So there are several prices for the same plan name: Pro Monthly at $6.99, $9.99 or $17.99, and Pro Yearly at $19.99, $29.99 or $47.90. The App Store doesn't say which offer you will see. The listing shows Family Monthly at $12.99, while the terms say $13.99. SocialLite's FAQ says the price and billing period are "shown before you confirm the purchase", and that a free trial "is not guaranteed". Check the price on the purchase sheet before you tap.
From the terms: subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel, cancelling takes effect at the end of the billing period, there are "no partial refunds", and SocialLite "generally" does not refund subscription payments.

What SocialLite's privacy label says
Apple's label for SocialLite has a "Data Used to Track You" section listing Identifiers. That means data that may be used to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. Under "Data Not Linked to You" it lists:
- Developer's Advertising or Marketing: purchase history, user ID, product interaction, advertising data.
- App Functionality: purchase history, email address, name, phone number, user ID, device ID, product interaction.
The App Store description says the only data used is opt-in, "to see which ads you saw to use SocialLite". SocialLite's FAQ says it doesn't collect, store or sell data about your social media use, and that you log in directly with each platform so it never sees your password. Its privacy policy says it does not read your DMs.
StillTabs' label is "Data Not Linked to You", with no tracking section. Analytics stay off unless you turn them on, and stilltabs.com loads no third-party trackers. More in Is StillTabs safe?
Free alternatives to SocialLite
- StillTabs (free, no in-app purchases). Shows Instagram and YouTube inside the app without Reels, Shorts, Explore, suggested posts, "For you" feeds or autoplay. DMs, stories, search, subscriptions and posts from people you follow stay. All four modes are free, including Blackout, which leaves only search, profiles and DMs. Facebook, X and Reddit are in beta. It needs no account and no Screen Time permission. More on StillTabs as a SocialLite alternative.
- FeedOff (free, no in-app purchases). A browser for Instagram, YouTube, X, Reddit, LinkedIn and Facebook with Reels, Shorts, Explore, For You and suggested posts hidden. Each hide is a toggle. It can also block the real apps on a schedule using Apple's Screen Time. Its privacy label is "Data Not Collected".
- Nope (free, no in-app purchases). A Safari extension that hides Reels, Shorts, Explore and more when you use instagram.com and youtube.com in Safari. It has 17 toggles and no account. Its label is also "Data Not Collected". It works on the websites in Safari, not inside the Instagram or YouTube apps.
None of these covers TikTok or Snapchat inside the app. For more options, see free apps that block Reels.
Where SocialLite is better
- More networks. TikTok, Snapchat and LinkedIn are included, even on the free tier. StillTabs has none of those.
- It locks the official apps on iPhone, with a 5-minute Post Mode when you need them. StillTabs never locks other apps.
- Sleep Mode and parental controls. SocialLite has a Sleep Mode schedule and a Parent plan to manage a child's settings. StillTabs has neither.
- Android, iPad and Mac. StillTabs is iPhone only.
- Many ratings. 4.7 from 17,419 US ratings, and nine languages. StillTabs is new, with no ratings yet.
Is SocialLite Pro worth it?
It depends on what you need. If the default blocks suit you, the free tier already removes Reels, Shorts and Explore, and you don't need Pro. Pro makes sense if you want to fine-tune individual blocks, use several Instagram accounts in SocialLite, or set up a Family plan for a child.
If you mainly use Instagram and YouTube and want full control without paying, a free app may be enough. Read the hidden costs of Reels blockers or the full StillTabs vs SocialLite comparison.
